Our Past: A History of Bold Steps of Faith
Dear Family in Faith,
First Methodist of Humble has been making a difference in the lives of people and in our community for the last 110 years. The people called "Methodists" helped bring health care, quality education and other community resources to the Humble area. Our impact is even larger when you consider First Methodist helped 'seed' two other congregations and has send forth young people to become ministers as well as help raise and groom young ministers sent here.
This congregation has persevered through many dangers and perilous times. When the original church building burned down during the Great Depression, the people of God came together and built the brick chapel that we still use weekly for worship. Other buildings were to follow and never in what people would consider "a good time for a building campaign." Yet God continued to bless First Methodist.
I invite you to take the next step in this journey of faith. It is an act of discipleship to invest in our buildings as they are significant tools for ministry. It honors our spiritual parents who came before us. The proposed building changes do not merely renovate facilities, they revive them to meet the ministry needs for our current congregation and for the next generation.
As you prayerfully consider the "Building in Faith, Growing to Serve" campaign, I also hope your faith continues to be built on Jesus Christ and your heart opened to serve.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
